Long-term bloodpressure with SOMNOtouch™ NIBP
The SOMNOtouch™ NIBP is the latest generation of ambulatory blood pressure measurement from SOMNOmedics. It measures blood pressure continuously without a cuff, beat-to-beat, using the pulse transit time, which is determined by means of a 3-channel ECG and the photoplethysmogram of the finger clip. The PTT describes the time it takes for the pulse wave to cover the distance between two points in the vessel. Our method measures the time it takes for the pulse wave to travel from the left ventricle of the heart (defined by the R-wave of the ECG) to the tip of the patient's finger (measured by finger plethysmography). The algorithm is then set in the software by means of a single-point calibration at the start of the measurement - and the blood pressure can be calculated continuously and without feedback from the PTT without the need to inflate the cuff.
