One inductive effort sensor for recording the abdominal movement is already integrated in the SOMNO HD. The external RIP effort sensor for thoracic movement is connected to the SOMNO HD via a plug. Since the RIP belts as a whole serve as a sensor, they also provide a reliable signal in case of body position changes (especially in prone position). The SOMNO HD is worn on the abdomen as standard, but can also be worn on the thorax depending on preference. In this case, the external effort sensor is attached to the abdomen.The phase angle of both effort signals is used to analyse and evaluate partial obstructions up to paradoxical breathing (180° phase shift). The phase angle analysis determines partial obstructions of adjustable size and duration (flow limitation) and subsequent arousal reactions. The sum of both effort signals can be included in the evaluation as an additional flow signal, if necessary also as a quantitative flow signal after calibration.The RIP belts are adjustable and available in different sizes S-XXL (circumference from 40-150 cm). The scope of delivery includes a belt set in size L for thorax and abdomen (circumference approx. 80 - 120 cm).Alternatively, disposable inductive effort belts can be used. Our disposable belts are also available in different sizes from S-XXL.For patients with a pacemaker, we recommend placing the SOMNO HD abdominal at least 16 cm away from the pacemaker. If these fitting instructions are followed, there is no evidence of any impairment of patients with pacemakers.

It is available in different sizes (S for finger thickness of 7.5-12.5mm, M for finger thickness 10-19 mm, L for finger thickness 12.5-25.5 mm). As an alternative to the silicone finger clip, disposable SpO2 sensors (e.g. Flexi Wrap or Soft Wrap) can also be used.The SpO2 values are averaged over a maximum of 4 beats to record the desaturations. The measurement range is 70-100% for oxygen saturation and 30-240 bpm for pulse rate, with an accuracy of ± 3% and ± 3bpm respectively.Basal oxygen saturation and the number of desaturations (index) are determined. The desaturations provide information about hypopnoeas, among other things. The size of the desaturation can be set depending on the selected evaluation standard. Changes in the peripheral pulse wave are used to determine autonomic arousals.The time from the end of a respiratory event to the following rise of oxygen saturation is determined as a cycle time and can be interpreted in terms of cardiac dysfunction.The R-wave of the ECG and the peripheral pulse wave can be used to calculate the pulse transit time (PTT), the PWV and thus the continuous blood pressure (optional).
