Polysomnography
The diagnostic examination of polysomnography is at the heart of sleep diagnostics.
It involves recording a wide range of physiological signals such as EEG, EMG, respiratory flow, oxygen saturation, respiratory effort and ECG. In the first step, the result of the examination is a hypnogram, an individual sleep profile that presents these continuously recorded parameters in a comprehensive picture. In addition to the respiratory events recorded in the preliminary polygraphy stage, the neurological events can also be assessed and evaluated. The aim is to diagnose sleep disorders in a targeted and differentiated manner, taking into account the correlation of certain events during the night.
Polysomnography is mainly carried out on an inpatient basis, but sometimes in the patient's home environment.
